What is lymphatic drainage massage?
Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, therapeutic massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, reduce swelling, and promote healing. It’s especially beneficial after surgery to help reduce fluid buildup and improve circulation.
After procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, or mommy makeovers, your body naturally retains fluid. Lymphatic drainage helps flush out this excess fluid, reduces swelling, minimizes discomfort, and can speed up the healing process.
Ideally, you should start within the first week post-op, depending on your surgeon’s approval. Delaying can lead to increased swelling, discomfort, and even the formation of fibrosis (hard tissue).
The number of sessions varies depending on the procedure and your body’s response, but most clients benefit from 6–12 sessions, often starting with multiple sessions per week and tapering down as healing progresses.
Not at all. Lymphatic drainage is a very light, rhythmic massage. It’s gentle enough to avoid disrupting healing tissues while still being highly effective.
Yes. Regular sessions can help break down areas of fibrosis (hard or lumpy tissue), improve skin texture, and prevent long-term buildup of scar tissue.
Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes. You’ll lie comfortably while the therapist uses precise, gentle strokes to encourage lymph movement. It’s deeply relaxing and most clients leave feeling lighter and more mobile.
Lymphatic drainage is beneficial after most cosmetic surgeries, including liposuction, BBL, tummy tuck, facelift, breast augmentation, and more. Always check with your surgeon before beginning post-op massage.
Not necessarily, but it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider first—especially if you have specific medical concerns or complications.
Yes, many clients combine it with other gentle recovery treatments like scar therapy or red light therapy. However, it’s important to space things appropriately to avoid overwhelming your healing body
